This Is How I Make Brownies Without Eggs
Eggs are important in baking, but they're not necessary. Between egg allergies and specific diets, there are many reasons why you might need to skip the eggs in your brownies.
Why No Eggs?
If you or your guests need to eat an egg free diet, try one of these simple ingredient substitutions, which provide many of the same benefits to your brownies as eggs.
Method #1
Pureed Fruit
Whether it's applesauce, mashed bananas, or dates, pureed fruit works well as an egg replacer by providing moisture to your brownies. Use 1/4 cup of pureed fruit to replace 1 egg.
Method #2
Vinegar & Baking Soda
If you're trying to replace the leavening effect of eggs, vinegar and baking soda work well. Use 1 tablespoon of each to replace 1 egg.
Method #3
Ground Flaxseed
For a great vegan replacement, use ground flaxseed. To replace one egg, mix 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed with 3 tablespoons of water.
